Leda and the Swan
etching

The god Zeus came to Leda in the form of a swan and raped or seduced Leda on the same night she slept with her husband, King Tyndareus, king of Sparta. Leda laid two eggs from which her children by Zeus, Helen and Polydeuces, hatched. Simultaneously, she bore Castor and Clytemnestra by King Tyndareus.
