The Furies Taunt Orestes and Electra
woodcut, 10"w x 16"h, 1990

Upon Agamemnon’s return from the Trojan War, his unfaithful wife, Clytemnestra, had him slain. Years later their son Orestes returned home to avenge his father’s death. Orestes murdered his mother and her paramour, and fled from the kingdom with his sister Electra. The Furies pursued them relentlessly.
