| Agamemnon,
part human, part god, could be the prototype of Superman or Batman. His
divine gifts included both physical and mental genius, but he suffered mortal
and moral weakness. Upon his return from the Trojan War, his unfaithful wife,
Clytemnestra, had him slain. Years later their son Orestes returned home to avenge
his fathers death. He murdered his mother and her paramour, and fled from
the kingdom with his sister Electra. The Furies pursued them relentlessly.
